Community Involvement

The Holter Financial Group is dedicated to giving back to the community through their Community Outreach program. Throughout the year we, as an organization, are able to positively impact our community by offering our time and efforts to various charitable causes.

Big Brothers Big Sisters

During the chilly winter months of December and January, The Holter Financial Group teamed up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee to provide holiday cheer to students from area schools. BBBS let us know that some of the students in its program were in need of warm winter gear, particularly hats, gloves and mittens. Our firm came together to help – we not only were able to get each of the 50 students involved in this drive just one item, but we doubled our goal and provided a set of gear to each students. All in all, we collected 53 hats, 53 pairs of gloves/mittens, and various other items. Not only were the students excited, but we were happy that we could provide tools necessary for the kids to have some fun outside in the frosty Wisconsin weather!

Aside from the Hat & Mitten Drive, our firm also rallied around helping make it a special Christmas for a family in need. Big Brothers Big Sisters introduced us to the story of Lizzy, an elementary school student enrolled in the BBBS program. Lizzy, her mom, brother and sisters were starting off in a new apartment and were working to build a fresh start in their new home. Together, The Holter Group came together to give new toys, clothes, books, games and household items to Lizzy’s family. The kids had a magical Christmas, opening their gifts and having a great start to the year. We look forward to continuing our relationship with the family!

United Way

The Holter Financial Group has continued the great legacy of the Northwestern Mutual Family in supporting those less fortunate in our community through the United Way. The firm increased giving by over 50% in a down economy, demonstrating the collective commitment of its members to the greater Milwaukee area.

Ronald McDonald House

Members of the Holter Financial Group had the pleasure of serving dinner at Ronald McDonald House. The food was prepared by members of that group and approximately 30 people were served. To be able to help the families of children housed at Children’s Hospital was a humbling experience leaving those who participated with a sense of gratitude for the opportunity to help in some way. The Holter Financial Group provides this service to Ronald McDonald House and the families housed there on a quarterly basis.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Backpack Drive

Continuing to positively impact our community is a priority of the Community Outreach program. In September, The Holter Financial Group partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters in an effort to provide backpacks and school supplies to children in need within the Milwaukee area. Over the course of the month, members of our organization donated a total of 104 backpacks filled with numerous school supplies. As the month progressed, the sight of the mounting collection of donated backpacks waiting in our lobby was uplifting not only to members of our organization but to visitors to our downtown office.

The month-long drive culminated with the opportunity to meet some of the children at a neighboring school and personally deliver the filled backpacks. Brian Selerski and Andrea Zenisek, two individuals instrumental in the success of this drive, are pictured at left with one of the happy recipients. Both Brian and Andrea expressed how rewarding it was to have the opportunity to see the impact of our efforts.

Community Service Award
The Northwestern Mutual Community Service Award was created to recognize Financial Representatives and Associate Financial Representatives for their outstanding volunteer leadership and dedication to charitable organizations and philanthropic projects. Each award recipient is honored with a check presented to his/her charitable organization on behalf of the Northwestern Mutual Foundation. Award recipients will be recognized each year during Annual Meeting in Milwaukee. Ed Zore, the Company's president and CEO, will present all awards during a special ceremony.

The Holter Financial Group is proud to acknowledge our representatives and team members who have earned this distinguished award.

1996 Community Service Award Winner, Rose Spang
Rose Spang was presented with the Community Service Award during Northwestern Mutual's Annual Meeting in July of 1996 for her work with The YWCA of Greater Milwaukee. The YWCA is the oldest and largest multicultural women's organization in the world. Their mission is to eliminate racism and empower women. They provide safe places for women and girls, build strong women leaders, and advocate for women's rights and civil rights in Congress.

A $5,000 grant was presented to The YWCA of Greater Milwaukee on behalf of The Northwestern Mutual Foundation.

1999 Community Service Award Winner, Steve Voboril
Steve Voboril was presented with the Community Service Award during Northwestern Mutual's Annual Meeting in July of 1999 for his work with MMLO Charities. MMLO is a local philanthropic, non-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to help the welfare and development of youth in not only the New Berlin area, but the greater Milwaukee area as well. The organization was founded in 1985 when former New Berlin Mayor, John Malone, died of Cancer. There was a serious concern that the marvelous charitable programs under his direction might end too! Len Chappell and a committee of concerned citizens created the MMLO to assist those programs and other charities so John Malone’s spirit of giving would continue.

A $10,000 grant was presented to MMLO on behalf of The Northwestern Mutual Foundation.

Making an Impact on the Community
To grow and prosper, communities require care.  It is the work of many hands ... sharing many talents, many hours, and many gifts. In giving their time and their talents, by caring for each other, the members of the community care for the larger enterprise.  It is with this concept in mind that the members of The Holter Financial Group spend their time and efforts giving back to the community.
